Training
Training Philosophy
Our approach to training is pretty simple:
Meet the dog where they are, work at their pace and clarify for their human what the dog is trying to tell them.
Whether we are working basic obedience or behavior modification, we treat every owner/dog duo as a unique partnership, because it is. Let’s face it, you don’t need to know what works for every dog, you need to know what works for your dog(s). A cookie cutter approach where every dog is trained exactly the same way and every human is given recycled, out dated training cliches does not work. What does work is a trainer that has knowledge rooted in different training styles and techniques and is able to pull from a large pool of information to get you the results you are looking for.
What types of training do we offer?
Obedience & Beyond
Our Obedience programs cover a wide variety of training needs. Long gone are the days of once a week group classes that cram a lot of generic information into a once a week lesson that leaves you and your dog confused. We can cover a wide variety of commands, behaviors, tools, etc. Some of the things we can cover:
Basic Obedience (sit, down, come, stay, leave it, drop it)
Leash Manners
House Breaking (potty training)
Proper Socialization
Jumping on people
Generalizing good behaviors in public
How to get your dog to settle
Proper Play
Breed Specific Enrichment
Confidence Building
Prong Collar Conditioning
E-Collar Conditioning and Off Leash Skills
And More!
Behavior Modification:
As the name entails, behavior modification involves changing your dog’s behavior, usually around some sort of trigger. If you are looking to stop your dog’s reactivity/ aggression to other dogs or humans, this is what you are looking for.
What qualifies me to offer this type of training? Extensive research, continuing education, shadow programs and mentorships. I am a continuous student, increasing my knowledge of how a dog thinks and learns. This information allows me to then effectively change the way a dog feels about a trigger, leading to overall behavioral change.
What can I help with?
Leash Reactivity (barking, growling, lunging on leash)
Reactivity/Aggression towards strangers
Reactivity/Aggression towards other dogs
Bite History
Pack Integration (Getting dogs to be ok with a new dog in the home)
Resource Guarding
And More!
Our Programs

-
Weekly sessions are the typical offering for basic obedience. Based on the group class ideology of meeting at the same day and time each week. We go over the agenda for that week, you get sent home with homework to continue working on throughout the week and we build on it the following week.
-
Instead of dragging your sessions out over several weeks, we can get more done in a shorter amount of time. We will meet either daily or every couple days. The sessions are typically shorter and less information is thrown at you at once. Since we are working more closely together, you and your dog tend to get better results that stick.
-
The unlimited package gives you 30 days of unlimited sessions, unlimited questions via e-mail and 2 questions via phone or text daily. This allows you to make the most out of a month of training.
Private Sessions
-
Day care with a purpose. Day train is for basic obedience and minor reactivity. This program allows you to drop your dog off 2 or 3 times a week. We work with your dog a few times during the day toward agreed upon goals. Once a week you attend a private session to learn how to continue working with your dog.
-
Take your dog’s daycare experience to the next level. If you are not looking for training but would like your dog’s mind worked during the day, we can offer a play session that works your dog’s brain. Whether a scent game, figure out how to get the treat or toy, a fun flirt pole or chase session.

Board & Train
-
Have you ever thought, I wish I could send my dog somewhere to get the training they need and then I just learn how to keep it up? Well that’s exactly what a board and train is. Your dog stays with us for a certain amount of time and we get the tedious repetition and generalization done. Then we train you how to keep up the skills that we taught.
-
Typically a board and train is set for a specific amount of time and your dog stays here that entire time. We have flexibility on the time frame in which we offer, but 7 days is the minimum. Depending on what you are looking to accomplish during the board & train determines what time frame would be appropriate.
-
We offer a weekly option for board & train as well. We understand that some people in our area are in the unique position of working in the city a couple days a week and therefore need boarding every week. Why not make that boarding time count and use it as a board and train? Your dog stays with us the same 1, 2 or 3 nights every week and receive training during their stay. We schedule you in for a weekly private session as well so you are learning how to continue the work we are doing with your pup.

An E-Collar is an electronic collar that delivers a tactile stimulus to the dog via a transmitter worn on the dog’s neck. The low level stimulation is used to get the dog’s attention, much like tapping them on the shoulder. We like to explain it as a megaphone for communication between you and your dog. This collar allows for reliable and responsible off leash freedom as well as reliability for your basic obedience. These collars are a great tool for people with mobility limitations as well. Before we will train you and/or your dog on the e-collar, your dog must have a generalized understanding of basic obedience and recall.
-
We offer a 10 day board and train conditioning program. During this program we will find your dog’s working level, condition the stimulus and begin working with the collar. This is not all the work that will need to be done to generalize the collar, but gives you a good head start.
We also offer a 2 week program that allows us to not only condition the collar, but start to use it in more real world scenarios.
-
This program allows you to be part of the conditioning and training program. This is set up like our boot camp program where we work together on a regular basis to get you and your dog conditioned to and trained on the collar.
